Welcome.
If you made it this far, you’re probably lost. The left turn at Albuquerque is back that-a-way! But while you’re here, you might as well rest a spell, take your shoes off, and…relax. The spell won’t hurt, and afterwards, you won’t have any more need for shoes. Just look at this happy customer.

“No! Don’t touch that!”

I made it to Chapter Eleven of the first rewrite yesterday. It’s a milestone, as it begins a new book of the novel, the “running from enemies” book. The set-up took ten chapters, and I’m hoping they were worth it to the reader. I tried to make sure there was excitement and intrigue, but as I lack drama in my life, I had to draw from personalities in the news and quite a bit of my own past pain to make it sing. Hopefully, it will resonate with the editors that decide which books to publish. We’ll see. All I can do is my best.
Disclaimer:
This hot mess is my second venture into the realm of Social Media, not counting various pithy and uninformed comments on YouTube. Here you will see the kinds of stories my brain forced upon me, sometimes in the middle of the night when my guard was down. I hope you enjoy them as much as they enjoyed plaguing me.
About Me:
For 19 years I was on the front lines of Banquet service as an assistant manager, dealing with a variety of guests. Then, I was in retail briefly, until a spate of dissatisfaction drove me to resign my commission and dedicate myself to a singular goal: write the Great American Novel. Still pounding away at that, and while using the book as one form of therapy, I hope to use this site as another, and to bring to you the best that I can offer. I don’t guarantee that the stories will be epic, or even good…that didn’t come out right…but at least they will be…palatable. Taken with a grain of salt and a little paprika. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes until cheese bubbles.
The Mission:
To explore new worlds and new civilizations…to boldly go where no writer has gone before!
You ever watch a movie and look at the background extras and wonder what their stories are, or where they are going, and what their lives are like? No? Never? It’s just me, then? You would rather watch the main characters get through their story without the distraction of a million other stories that have nothing to do with the main plot?

- HouseplantThe moment she set it on his desk, he looked up from the laptop, glared at it, and said, “Don’t put that there.” She scowled down at him, hand hovering near the plant. “I don’t have anywhere else to put it.” He looked up at her. “You still don’t, now put it somewhere else.” SheContinue reading “Houseplant”
- TreeI thought it was just an ordinary tree. It wasn’t very tall. Just a fair-sized tree, great for sitting under to get out of the sun, or for hiding behind, which is what I thought the instant I saw it. They wouldn’t find me there, at least not right away, or maybe not at all.Continue reading “Tree”
- The End“Becker to LaSalle,” the suit’s communicator blurted. “What’s your status, Jason?” LaSalle tore his gaze off the prisoner and looked at his wrist. “Sorry to report, sir, but you might be leaving without us.” The communicator paused. “We have a few minutes left, Jason,” Becker assured him. “We’ll think of something.” Becker glanced at hisContinue reading “The End”
- Conundrum“Henricksen?” LaSalle urged. His tension was leaking through his calm exterior. He either believed his own story about a collision course with the sun, or he was the best actor ever. While LaSalle edged closer to the young ensign to take a peek at her pad, their prisoner shuffled uneasily from one foot to theContinue reading “Conundrum”
- Captured“You didn’t think it through, did you?” the alien asked smugly. The execution had been flawless. It took some time to psyche himself up, but once he had unscrewed the grille fasteners, his timing was perfect. The moment the grille hit the deck, alerting the aliens of his presence, he gripped the edge of theContinue reading “Captured”
